Top Chef: Boston; Who Will Win And Who Will Lose.

Reality TV and cooking probably make for the best mashup on television. Enter: Top Chef! The show is back again with a crazy and unpredictable season taking place in Boston. The first episode of the season, which aired last Wednesday, October 15th, gave some insight to the insane season we are about to take part in.

The first episode started off with an insane challenge within the first few minutes. A Quick Fire challenge was announced and the classic challenge turned deadly within seconds. Padma Lakshmi, the host of the show, announced that the Quick Fire was  “sudden death.”  Basically, if you lose, you are done and out of the competition. Continue reading

A Culinary Experience Abroad

Cooking and baking is one of my favorite hobbies. When I found out I was going to be studying in Florence for four months, I was excited to learn about the history and culture of the city, but I was most excited to learn about the pizza, pasta, and gelato. One of the first things I did when I got to Florence, was sign up for a cooking class. Continue reading

Simply Salmon

Need a suggestion for a quick meal? Salmon burgers.

At the market the other day I stumbled upon pre-made mango lime salmon burgers. Normally, I am a bit hesitant to try the pre-made food, but these sounded too good to turn down. Mango just happens to be my favorite fruit and I put it on just about anything when it is in season. I was a bit hesitant about the use of mangoes in this burger because it is a tad bit late for in season mangoes, but I figured I would give it a (man)go. (Funny yet?)  Continue reading

9 Movies That You NEED To See This Season.

This upcoming movie season is creating a crazy buzz. The range of films that are coming out in the next few weeks are impressive. Although, I have only been able to see the trailers for all of the movies below, I plan on seeing every single one. Each movie is creating some kind of Oscar buzz, whether it be from a best actress or a best director nomination. Each movie is packed with a great cast and plot to keep you thinking for days. Several of the films are based around true stories. They include a range of heart warming stories about unexpected relationships, to crazy action packed dramas. Either way, I would recommend any of these movies this upcoming season!

Steve Carell, Funny Guy Turned Serious Actor.

Steve Carell and comedy go hand-in-hand. However, this coming Oscar season, Carell tries on a new role as a stern and sullen wrestling coach in his new movie, Foxcatcher.

Steve Carrell is usually known as the funny man. His filmography contains several comedic roles including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Anchorman, and Little Miss Sunshine. He has occurred several times on Saturday Night Live showing his true colors with sketch comedy and flat-out funny improv. However, it was a his role as playing Michael Scott on The Office, a mockumentary style sitcom, that earned him a Golden Globe along with five nominations throughout the shows run. It seemed at the time that comedy was the only genre Carell will ever do.
