Oscar Predictions 2016: Who Will Win, Who Could Win, and Who Should Win

 

This award season, the race couldn’t be more complicated.

While a few of the categories seem pretty easy to predict (sixth times a charm, right Leo!?), Best Picture is still very up in the air. Right now, its basically a three-way race between Spotlight, The Revenant, and The Big Short. Each film has a major guild win (Spotlight with a SAG, The Revenant with a DGA, and The Big Short with a PGA), so it’s a pretty tight competition.  Continue reading

Fall Movie Round Up: Oscar Buzz Already!?

So long sweet summer, hello fall movie season! Fall is officially here and the only silver lining of summer being over is that Oscar season is around the corner!

With the conclusion of Telluride and TIFF, several Oscar worthy movies are making their rounds seeing what kind of buzz they can produce. It’s still SUPER early on in the season but that has not stopped anyone from making predictions. Right now everything is fair game. The Academy Awards 2015!

And that’s a wrap on Awards Season 2015. The 87th Academy Awards were held last night with all of Hollywood’s finest in attendance. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the gig, starting off on a high note with a musical number (shocker!) with a little help from Anna Kendrick and Jack Black. After the elaborate introduction, the actors took to the stage to hand out the rest of the awards.

Selma Rises Past The Snubs

Channeling history has become immensely popular among the films this season. The range of films this season sparked a lot of buzz, channeling major figures in history. They range anywhere from a biopic of a famous scientist or following a long walk in the wild. Selma tackles a different area of history, focusing on a semi biopic of Martin Luther King Jr., and the events that took place in the south during the 1960’s. The film did its justice to create a raw energy and enough buzz to keep the conversation going.  Continue reading
