Selma Rises Past The Snubs

Channeling history has become immensely popular among the films this season. The range of films this season sparked a lot of buzz, channeling major figures in history. They range anywhere from a biopic of a famous scientist or following a long walk in the wild. Selma tackles a different area of history, focusing on a semi biopic of Martin Luther King Jr., and the events that took place in the south during the 1960’s. Secrets, secrets, and more secrets are one way to explain The Imitation Game. Alan Turing was the man responsible for one of the first computers. Turing unfortunately was not granted the fame and recognition he deserved. His amazing discoveries and mechanical advances were kept as part of a top secret mission during World War II. His story is shared in the film, The Imitation Game. Benedict Cumberbatch and Kiera Knightly star in this World War II biopic doing a wonderful job to capture the over-emotional and high strung situations in The Imitation Game.

Michael Keaton IS Birdman

Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Micheal Keaton have created a film that will be remembered for ages. Birdman, has put Keaton back on the map, giving him major fuel for an Oscar nomination. Birdman is unlike any other film this season. It is quirky, dramatic, and has its share of comedic moments. While I thought the plot was kind of off, the performances speak for themselves. Birdman is on the path to the Oscars and nothing can get in its way now.
