And that’s a wrap on Awards Season 2015. The 87th Academy Awards were held last night with all of Hollywood’s finest in attendance. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the gig, starting off on a high note with a musical number (shocker!) with a little help from Anna Kendrick and Jack Black. After the elaborate introduction, the actors took to the stage to hand out the rest of the awards.
Top Chef Boston is winding down with only one episode left! Three chefs remained to battle it out in this week’s episode “Holy Escamoly!” The remaining chefs returned for the three-part finale in Mexico. With only a few challenges left, the chefs have to be on their best game ever. Every detail counts and even a great dish could get someone sent home. With the final episode of Top Chef in sight, nothing is set in stone. The last few episodes have proven that there is no clear favorite and chef’s can move from the bottom to the top in an instant.
The last few episodes have sent the contestants on a whirlwind of an adventure. First, they tried to replicate meals inspired by Julia Child. Doug was unlucky and was sent home due to his undercooked loaves of foie gras. Then, the chefs were granted with a by-week and everybody was saved from elimination. Instead, they were given the opportunity to head straight to the finale. They were able to spend time cooking with their families to create cohesive dishes. From this challenge, Melissa was sent straight to the finale, and spared any contestant of packing their knives. Last week, the king of molecular gastronomy, Wylie Dufresne, visited the chefs. The challenge was to create something innovative while exploring new flavors and techniques. George came up short with over-charred octopus and was sent packing. That left three contestants ready to compete for the title of Top Chef. Continue reading
The Oscar nominations ARE IN! With such a deep field of actors and movies this year, there were sure to be a few snubs and surprises. Birdman and The Grand Budapset Hotel lead with the most nominations, having nine each. Let’s take a look at the major nominees:
Starting off with a toast to Katsuji seemed like the perfect way to say hello to Top Chef after its two-week hiatus. With five chefs left, the competition is at an all time high.
For the Quick Fire Challenge, the chefs were taken back to their college roots. We are introduced to Andy Cohen and his college roommate and wait to see what the rest of the challenge has in store for the chefs. Continue reading
